The Endangered Ecosystems of Florida

The Florida Scrub

To begin, what is an Ecosystem?

It is an Environment within which many Species,

both Plant (flora) and Animal, (fauna)

maintain a way of daily life, unconsciously

 interdependent upon one another and

the area that they inhabit together.

The Florida Scrub Ecosystem is defined as

a sandy area with little vegetation.

This oldest Florida Ecosystem is an ideal

home for the Scrub Jay, Gopher Tortoise,

Sand Skink and many other Endangered Species.

The fact that the Endangered Scrub areas are in rapid

decline due to building expansion into their spaces,

is in direct relation to the decline in the animal

and plant life that inhabit it as well.
