The Endangered Plants of
Florida

Scrub Morning Glory
Bonamia grandiflora
Florida, La Florida, as it was named by Spanish explorer
Ponce De Leon, in the early 1500's, means Land of the
Flowers.
We certainly do attempt to live up to the name!
This Threatened plant was once seen throughout
the entire Lake Wales
Ridge Ecosystem.
Now, it is mainly found in the Ocala National Forest.
If you look
when driving in the area you will
see it winding along side the road, its
beautiful
purple blue flowers turned up towards the light.
